A Centenial in Chelsea

It’s Morning in Chelsea.

Together: we’re shaping the future.

We stand at the precipice of transformation — creating a home that will unite education, community, celebration, and living.

This year’s $1 million goal will fund the, feasibility studies, and professional groundwork that will pave the way for our full capital campaign launching in 2026 — the next step toward Chelsea’s new Jewish center.

At the same time, your generosity continues to power the four pillars that sustain and grow our community every day:

1. Sabina Waksal Chelsea Gan

In response to the thriving success of our preschool, we are excited to announce plans for its expansion. Our goal is to open additional classrooms and create enhanced play spaces, fostering an environment where our youngest members can grow, learn, and thrive. This expansion is a testament to our commitment to nurturing the future leaders of our community, providing them with the foundation they need to succeed. As part of this initiative, we are also raising funds to provide a full-time armed guard, ensuring the highest level of safety and peace of mind for our children, families, and staff.

2. Chelsea Giving Kitchen

Chelsea Giving Kitchen has become a cornerstone of our community's efforts to combat hunger and support those in need. With its success, the time has come to find a permanent, state-of-the-art kitchen facility. This will enable us to increase our capacity to prepare and distribute meals, ensuring that we meet the needs of our community with efficiency and compassion. Particularly close to our hearts is the provision of kosher meals to local homebound Holocaust and Concentration camp survivors. By ensuring access to nutritious, kosher meals, we honor our commitment to upholding the dignity and well-being of all members of our community, especially those who have endured unimaginable hardships.

3. Rohr Center JGrads NYC

Following the events of October 7 and the subsequent anti-Semitism, our students feel unsafe and uncertain. To address this, we aim to welcome a new young Rabbi and Rebbetzin, dedicating themselves full-time to providing vital guidance, comfort, and inspiration, and nurturing a stronger, more resilient Jewish graduate community.

4. The Chelsea Shul – House of Worship & Community

Since 1852, the Chelsea Shul has served as the spiritual heart of Jewish life in Lower Manhattan. Each year, thousands gather here for prayer, celebration, and connection — from Shabbat and holidays to life-cycle moments that bind generations together. As part of our future vision, we aim to strengthen and beautify this sacred space — creating a welcoming, inspiring home for worship and community that continues to uplift and unite the growing Chelsea Jewish population
